EurAsian Project EPK

I'm really looking forward to hear the collaboration between the great master French pianist, Manuel Rocheman, and the Japanese/American twins, Carl & Alan Maguire. The age and cultural differences should make for very intriguing and fresh music from this trio". Stay tuned!.......

Story

EurAsian Project presents you what jazz is about, the international language.
The music encompasses jazz from many cultures and eras and this trio creates a sound many can appreciate.

Manuel, Carl and Alan met at the Knoxville Jazz Festival in 2016.  Donald Brown, who has been mentoring Carl & Alan, introduced his long time friend Manuel to them.  Their international backgrounds quickly brought them together to go beyond the borders and generations to create a new and original sound of jazz to reach the heartstrings of many.

From the Leader

This trio will be very representative of what is jazz music:  an international language, no matter where we come from nor our age.
Manuel Rocheman (Pianist)

Testimonials

One of my highlights in 2016 is that I met these young talents.  I learned about Carl & Alan in Bremen, Germany in April and interviewed them in June, saw their live performance in July.  They tour their hometowns, like Akita, Japan and Hong Kong, having their base in Memphis, TN in USA.  I look forward to seeing their success in coming years. I can't wait to see them with Manuel Rocheman in Europe, at places like Sunset-Sunside Jazz Club in Paris.

Manuel Rocheman, the French elite pianist has recorded with strong rhythm sections like Scott Colley and Antonio Sanchez, Francois & Louis Moutin Brothers.  He must value Carl & Alan Maguire to play with them.  It is truly fascinating that Manuel plays sophisticated against two young lions who have been significantly improving every time I see them.

Manuel Rocheman

A French wizard of piano, a true virtuoso has been delivering his beautiful and timeless music internationally in more than 30 countries.

Alan Shutaro Maguire

A real deal bassist.  He is known for an energetic, but also sensible and tasteful playing style.

Carl Seitaro Maguire

A craftsman of the drums who can make the drum, a percussion instrument, sing.  He is energetic, and at times lyrical and poetic.
Being inspired in jazz at a young age, Manuel showcased his talent and started to play in clubs in Paris in his early teens.  Studying at CNR de Paris, his talent made him an only pupil of Martial Solal and his career took off soon after.  He has recorded 10 albums of his own and recorded with many well known musicians such as George Mraz, Rick Margitza, Toninho Horta and Kyle Eastwood.  He also appeared on many albums as a sideman.  He has received numerous awards including The Django Reinhardt Prize for The Musician of The Year in 1998.
He continues to deliver his music in the world and is determined to further expand his music horizon beyond borders and generations.

The Maguire Twins, now 21-year-old identical twins, were born in Tokyo and grew up in Hong Kong going to a British international school.
At age 15, they moved to the vibrant music city of Memphis, TN.   There they joined the world renown Stax Music Academy, found jazz waiting for them and met Kirk Whalum, a Grammy winning saxophonist, who was then Stax artist in residence. That was also where they met Donald Brown, who later became their teacher, mentor and producer.  At age 18, they recorded their first album, ‘The Sound of Music’ with Brown as a producer and Whalum as a guest artist.
Their passionate playing style has been capturing the attention of many listeners of music, not only jazz listeners but also those who have no prior knowledge of jazz music.  They frequently perform around various parts of the USA, Japan and Hong Kong and continue to develop and share their music. They have been touring Japan and Hong Kong annually where their fanbase continues to grow and expand to farther reaches of the world.  They have performed with artists such as Yosuke Onuma (g), Shigeharu Mukai (tb), Yuichi Inoue (p), Yosuke Sato (s) in Japan as well as Ted Lo (p) in Hong Kong.
Their will release their second album again produced by Donald Brown in March, 2018. ‘Seeking Higher Ground’ recorded with world class artists, Aaron Goldberg, Bill Mobley, and Gregory Tardy.  With this milestone they are committed to bridge borders and generations with their music.
