Seeking Higher Ground Promo Video
Thank You!
Thanks to your support, we had a memorable 2017!
The main highlight of this year was recording our second album with world class artists, Aaron Goldberg (p), Bill Mobley (tp), and Gregory Tardy (s) along with Donald Brown as our producer once again. We are happy to announce that the release date is March 30, 2018. Please check out the demo video above!
This year we had our annual Japan-Hong Kong tour where we had the opportunity to expand to many more cities in Japan. One of cities we got to play in was Niigata where we were a part of The Niigata Jazz Street festival; it was nice and fun! We were also granted the honor to perform with Japanese legends, Shigeharu Mukai (tb), Yuichi Inoue (p) and Yosuke Sato (s) at prestigious jazz clubs in Tokyo, as well as, Ted Lo in Hong Kong once more. We also added New Zealand, another country to the list of places we have had the opportunity to perform. We were asked to perform for and work with students learning how to play Jazz.
To close off the list of things we were able to accomplish this year, we have both graduated from The University of Tennessee with bachelor degree's in music. We are now prepping for the New Year and we hope to see many of you along the way.

Seeking Higher Ground
Announcing the world wide release
March 30, 2018
‘Seeking Higher Ground’ is the culmination of what The Maguire Twins inherited from the jazz giants of Memphis and the rest of America and for the development of their own sound.
Carl Seitaro Maguire & Alan Shutaro Maguire, now 21-year-old identical twins, were born in Tokyo and grew up in Hong Kong going to a British international school. By age 14, they knew they wanted to make music the center of their lives.
At age 15, they moved to the vibrant music city of Memphis, TN. There they joined the world renown Stax Music Academy, found jazz waiting for them and met Kirk Whalum, a Grammy winning saxophonist, who was then Stax artist in residence. That was also where they met Donald Brown, who later became their teacher, mentor and producer. At age 18, they recorded their first album, ‘The Sound of Music’ with Brown as a producer and Whalum as a guest artist.
Their passionate playing style has been capturing the attention of many listeners of music, not only jazz listeners but also those who have no prior knowledge of jazz music. They frequently perform around various parts of the USA, Japan and Hong Kong and continue to develop and share their music.
Their performances in Japan and Hong Kong in the winter of 2013-2014 were unexpectedly popular and caught the attention of many local media outlets. Ever since, they have been touring Japan and Hong Kong annually where their fanbase continues to grow and expand to farther reaches of the world. They have performed with artists such as Yosuke Onuma (g), Shigeharu Mukai (tb), Yuichi Inoue (p), Yosuke Sato (s) in Japan as well as Ted Lo (p) in Hong Kong.
Listen to the next chapter of their story, ‘Seeking Higher Ground’ recorded with world class artists, Aaron Goldberg, Bill Mobley, and Gregory Tardy. With this milestone they are committed to bridge borders and generations with their music. Enjoy, as this chapter will entice you into the world they have created through their musical roots. Moreover, their story continues…
